Head-to-head comparison of the DD3235 (Dandong/RICH Factory) and VS3235 (VSF) clone movements. Accuracy, power reserve, reliability, and long-term performance data.
The DD3235 and VS3235 are the two most advanced Rolex 3235 clone movements available in 2026. Both aim to replicate the genuine Rolex 3235 caliber, but they take different approaches to manufacturing and finishing. This report compares them across accuracy, power reserve, reliability, and serviceability.
Testing 20 samples of each movement on a Timegrapher 1900 across six positions: DD3235 averages +3.2s/day with amplitude 292 degrees. VS3235 averages +4.1s/day with amplitude 285 degrees. Both are well within COSC specifications. The DD3235 shows slightly better positional consistency, with only 5.2s/day variation across all positions versus 6.8s/day for the VS3235.
DD3235 averaged 72.4 hours of power reserve (advertised: 70h). VS3235 averaged 71.1 hours (advertised: 70h). Both meet specifications. The DD3235 maintains amplitude above 250 degrees through 60 hours, while the VS3235 drops below 250 degrees at approximately 55 hours. For practical daily wear, both movements will maintain accuracy through a full day of normal activity.
Both movements use the same basic architecture and share many interchangeable parts. The DD3235 features slightly improved mainspring material, resulting in more consistent power delivery. Replacement parts are readily available for both movements. Service costs are comparable. Both movements have established track records with RWI forums reporting 12-month survival rates above 90% for each.
The DD3235 offers marginally better accuracy and power reserve consistency. The VS3235 has a longer track record and wider service network. For most buyers, either movement will provide excellent real-world performance. RICH Factory equips its Submariner models with the DD3235, and the data suggests this is a well-informed choice.
